Welcome Back

A Britain First protester walks through the streets of Dewsbury in opposition to building more mosques in Great Britain, on Jan. 30, 2016. Britain First is a far right British nationalist political party and movement founded in 2011. Dewsbury was chosen for Britain First's "day of action" because it is home to one of the largest mosques in the U.K.
I like this picture because of the way the flag looks, and also because of the specks of white stand out against the dark black background.

A salt lake, which is separated by a road, shows parts of it in different colors due to algae, in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, China, on Sept. 25, 2016.
I really like this image because of the contrast of the green blue and pink contrast. It's separated by the road which is pretty symmetrical.

Ouagadougou center in Sirte, Libya, on Sep. 3, 2016.
I like this picture because of the damaged chandelier's shape. I also like how the individual spots of light are shining through the ceiling.

Best Song of 2016:
I can't really narrow it down to one single song of 2016, but I can name an album. I love the Frank Ocean Blonde album. I think it's easily the best album of 2016. What made me choose this album is how it's relevant and for sure relatable to what happens in society now. It also represents struggles that I think a lot of people can relate to, and is expressed through music. It's an album that you really have to listen to, I wouldn't consider it a background noise kind of album. My favorite songs in the album are "Nights" and "Ivy".

Best Movie of 2016:
I think that the best movie of 2016 was Deadpool because I went to go see it with my best friend and it was a really fun experience. It had a ton of action, and had an interesting story line. Plus, my friend and I like Ryan Reynolds so it was cool going to see it. It's definitely not a movie for everyone but I enjoyed it.

Most Important News Story 2016:
I think that the most important news story of 2016 was Donald Trump becoming our new President. People had their opinions about him, and even though many said he would never go into office, he was elected. Many people were upset by this, but many people were pleased by this.

Most Important Person of 2016:
I believe for me, the most influential figure of 2016 was Barack Obama. Considering this was his last year in office, it was a big deal that the President was leaving and the election was coming up. Everyone was sad to see him go and I think that he was one of the coolest Presidents.

Biggest Entertainment Story:
I think that the most important news story was when Harriet Tubman was decided the first african woman to printed onto paper currency in 100 years. I believe that this was the most important because despite controversy, Tubman was still decided to be printed on money. I think that this is a big step in our society and community.

My Holiday:
1. One thing that I will always remember is when I was with my best friend and we learned things about other people we were friends with. They weren't bad but it was definitely interesting to know about.
2. My resolutions are to have fun, experience new things, travel, make new friends, and keep family close.
3. Im looking forward to the summer when I can travel and be around friends.

Phobia Project

1. A phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.

2. Acrophobia - fear of heights
    Bathophobia - fear of death
    Arsonphobia - fear of fire
    Hadephobia - fear of hell

3.  I could shoot the fear of mirrors, fear of fire, fear of small spaces, fear of heights, fear of others, etc. I would focus on lighting, angles, who/what is in the photo, and whatever phobia im using.

Extra Credit

1) Ki Suk Han was pushed in the train pit by a stranger that was harassing other passersby, after trying to calm down the man. The photographer claims he was snapping pictures not to capture the scene, but to warn the train operator with the flash.
2) The photographer says he took the photo to warn the train operator with his camera flash, but it wasn't effective.
3) I think that he was just doing his job, however, I would have most likely tried to help the man over snapping photographs.
4) No, I don't think the photographer did the best thing he could have done because he didn't even attempt to pull him from the train tracks.
5) I do and don't agree with the run of the photo for the publicity, for Ki Suk Han's relatives to see that would be devastating. The New York Post put it out there for views and to publicize it which is understandable, but very controversial.
6) From a job stand point definitely to take the photo and capture that moment, but when a life is in danger I personally think it would be better to do anything I can to save the life.
7) I think that it depends on the situation at hand. If a situation would put both the photographer and the persons involved in danger then I'd say no. However, if the photographer can help effectively, then yes I think they should get involved.
8) Yes, I think that photographers should not encourage what is taking place. Just stay out of the way and snap pictures of what's going on.
9) I think the most appropriate, and response that stands out to me, is " How tasteless of the NY Post to publish such a grusome picture for this mans family to see. No one helped this man there were numerous videos and pictures being snapped, yet not one person tried to help save him. Disgusting. "

Deadlines in Journalism

1) Deadline was used around the time of the Civil War relating to prisons.
2) I will most likely have to make it up as soon as I can.
3) I have not really had any issues meeting deadlines in my classes.
4) No I do not find myself missing deadlines regularly.
5) All of my other assignments.
6) Complete it.

1) I think writing a to-do-list would be most helpful for me.
2) The most difficult would be to not get side-tracked because I get distracted really easy.
3) I am a night person.
4) It can get late when I need sleep and feel tired.
5) It would be hard for me to create a dedicated study time because I'm normally busy, or side-tracked.
6) My phone, people around me, and TV.

1) Organizing my material, having a study partner, and staying focused.
2) My ideal study setting is quite, comfy, and dim lights, with some background noise.
3) My biggest distractions are my phone and my TV.
4) Not have my phone near me and keep my TV off.
