architecture assignment preview #1
sculptured house, usa

1. charles deaton
2. 1963
3. genesee mountain
4. visit
5. 2.8 million
6. for experimental reasons
7. i chose this building because of the look of it. the overall shape makes everything about it interesting and very eye-catching. also, the fact that it is built on top of a mountain adds interest to the building. it makes me wonder how they got it to be stable enough to be safe to live in. considering that the earth moves, i wondered if the house would ever shift.
habitat 67, canada

1. moshe safdie
2. 1967
3. montreal
4. visit
5. no
6. for entertainment
7. i chose this building because of the interesting design. there's stacks of square shaped buildings on top of each other. i assume this was hard to do in the actual design process. the building kind of looks like pixels stacked together to make a single, large, house like thing.
eden project, uk

1. nicholas grimshaw
2. 2000
3. cornwall
4. visit
5. no
6. for environmental reasons/attraction
7. this one caught my eye because of the way it looks. at first i thought it looked like giant golf balls. but it also kinda looks like bubble wrap because of the shape. what also caught my eye was the size of this building, its huge. i wondered what this could be made from as well.
turning torso, sweden

1. santiago calatrava
2. 2005
3. malmo
4. visit
5. no
6. for apartments/living purposes
7. at first glance it looks like this building is gonna fall over because of the twist in it. but thats also what makes this structure so intriguing. it had to of been carefully been planned out in order to ensure stability. especially, if it was meant for people to be living in it. overall it looks really cool.
cubic houses, netherlands

1. piet blom
2. 1977
3. rotterdam
4. visit
5. no
6. for living space
7. when i first saw this i was kinda confused on what it was. all the yellow and the diamond shapes blended and i couldn't tell where it started and ended. however, this is a really cool building. the inside is very geometric and it seems weird to live in a house/apartment with oddly shaped walls, but maybe that's apart of the appeal.

Varsity Cheerleaders Photo
This photo is well taken. The lighting is good and the background is black which makes the cheerleaders pop out. The rule of composition is balance. The main subject are the cheerleaders. Yes, the photo is exposed properly. The depth of field is medium, because the football players are visible, but they are a bit blurry.
Science Fair Photo Two
This is a nice photo because it shows the full poster board, the student and the judge. The good lighting makes the photograph clean and easy to see/read. The rule of composition is rule of thirds. The main subject is the girl's project. Yes, it is exposed properly. It has a deep depth of field.
Peaceful Protesters
This photo is great because it makes me want to read about it. The lighting is great and balanced. This is rule of thirds and leading lines. The main subject is the man in a mask. Yes, it's exposed properly. Not much evidence of depth of field because the photo doesn't go far back.
Student Gymnast Photo One
The photo is exciting and full of action. The lighting is good, but could be a bit darker.
This is leading lines. The girl is the main subject. It could be exposed better. Deep depth of field.
Principal Search
This photo is good and has a lot of details. The lighting is very good and everything in the picture is sharp. The rule is balance. The woman is the main subject. Yes, it is exposed properly. Photo has a deep depth of field.
Entire Paper
My favorite picture is the first gymnastics photo. It is my favorite because it has a lot of action in it. The photo has leading lines and Depth of field.
My least favorite ones are the pictures of students in Bulldog Speak out and the first science fair photo. They are boring and don't have much in them.
I would have liked to do gymnastics because it has a lot of action and it is interesting. Gymnastics is the funnest topic in this magazine in my opinion.
I would rate this issue four out of five stars. It has many great photographs and good text, but a few of the photographs are not very good. Some things in this magazine could be improved.

Front Pages of the World
1. My favorite newspaper page is austin, tx because I live in Austin.
2. My favorite headline is "Immigrants in Austin Express Outrage, Fear"
3. theres four stories
4. I noticed that the important headlines are in bigger font and the subtitles are smaller but still eye catching.
5. I noticed that the number of pictures for all newspapers are different. some have just a main photo, but others have many smaller pictures. I guess it just depends on the layout.
Notes:
1. In Bowie's school newspaper, i normally understand whats going on just by looking at the headlines because i go here. However, if its not about Bowie, I may have to read more to get all the information.
2. The pictures are the thing that stands out the most in the Bowie newspaper. Just from the pictures, I can tell what is going on.
3. theres two stories on the cover
4. I think that more stories and pictures would be a good improvement to make.
5. Yes, the title is the biggest, and there is two photos. However, they differ in size.
6. I really like this school newspaper because on the cover it focuses on the two main topics and the topics on the inside are all different and appealing.

Website Review
I looked at the PetaPixel website. The point of this website is to provide many different photography articles. The articles are all different but are all based on photography. Anyone can click on whatever looks the most interesting to them and read an entire article about it with photos showing different things. I would bookmark this website because I like how it shows the top winning photos of 2017 and I enjoy looking at the different kinds of pictures. I would definitely recommend this website because it provides a lot of unique and interesting information about photography, and its helpful to know if you want to start to get into photography.
I give this website a five star rating because this website was very insightful and helpful.

I give this website a five star rating because this website was very insightful and helpful.

I chose this photograph from the article about the top underwater photos of 2017. I chose it because I thought this was a really great picture. The lighting is clear and clean and on top of that the blue water makes sea creature stand out. I learned that this was the number one photograph that French photographer Gabriel Barathieu took. I think underwater photography is so cool because of all the effort that goes into the shots. Also, it allows us to see what goes on down beneath the water.
